Are sugarcane products sustainable?
Yes, sugarcane is also a fast-growing, renewable resource. Sugarcane has a reproducing cycle of one year, while trees take 7-10 years to reach maturity!
Sugarcane is harvested and used to make sugar. Large rollers crush the cane and extract the sugary liquid from the sugarcane stalk. What’s left is the crushed sugarcane stalk, also called sugarcane Bagasse. This sugarcane pulp is used to make disposable tableware!
