Leverage Social Media to Increase Your Business

More than ever we hear how busy everyone is. But, are we actually that busy? Ironically in this go-go-go era,the average person spends nearly two hours a day on social media. Clearly, many of us find time every day for social media.

Suffice to say, if your business isn’t already on social media or you haven’t dedicated an effort toward it, it’s time to get busy and focus on it.  PickOn Us has found that dedicating a brief window of time daily (start at 15 minutes) toward social engagement goes a long way toward building customer loyalty and increasing orders.

Before jumping in, familiarize yourself:

  • What is it? Social media is defined as websites and apps that facilitate and encourage interaction and participation in social networking.
  • Understand how visitors are interacting on these channels. They are reading, consuming information, posting pictures, researching and gathering information.
  • Go online and familiarize yourself with Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, SnapChat, Vimeo, etc. Research caterers, chefs, event planners and brands that you admire. Track what your competitors are doing as well.
  • Start with a few channels to focus on; consider Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest since they’re popular in our space. Better yet, do a little research and see where your customers are interacting. Pick On Us knows our customers are very active on Instagram so we have a strong presence there.
  • Determine your plan of attack. What is your goal? What does success look like? Are you looking to increase clients, strengthen relationships or increase orders/sales?

Once you’re ready to get started, consider the following:

  • A calendar is a good tool for organizing content and timing. Develop copy and images in clusters. Meaning, have a set of posts at the ready to get you off the ground. Doing some work upfront will help save a lot of time in the long run.
  • A picture is worth a thousand words! An image is much more likely to be recalled than copy alone. Colorful images on Pinterest are more likely to get pinned than black and white. Be “real” with your pictures, don’t over edit/filter you work to become something it’s not. Be sure all of your pictures consistently represent your brand.
  • Monitor your channels and respond to followers as soon as possible. Set a goal for a 24-hour response rate.
  • Share content from your followers and fans! It builds loyalty and credibly for your business.

Use branded hashtags – Pick On Us uses hashtags that relate to our posts and resonates with our followers. A few of the hashtags we have used include: #custompicks,  #cheftools, #bambooknottedpick, #catering, #chefsofinstagram #stickitlikeyoumeanit,#showmeyourpickand more.

We hope these tips get your social media plans off the ground! Follow us to see what Pick On Us is doing on social media!
